Timothy William Scee

Timothy W. Scee, 73, of Jonesborough, TN, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 2, 2026 following a long battle with end-stage kidney disease.

Tim and Pamela R. Gardner were high school sweethearts. On June 5th, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Together they built their own home on Evans Road, outside of Brownville, where they lovingly raised their three children.

Tim graduated from General Brown High School in 1971. His classmates knew him by his contagious smile, knicknaming him “Smiley.” Growing up he had a passion for working with his father on stock cars raced by family members and friends. After graduation, Tim worked as a mechanic for UPS and as a custodian at General Brown Central School. In 1974 he started his postal career as a clerk and later, a letter carrier in Watertown, going on to serve as Postmaster of Depauville. After his retirement, he was elected Town Supervisor of Hounsfield and held that position for twelve years. Tim was also an owner of the Sackets Harbor ice cream shop, Saturdays, Sundaes & More, a career move that surprised no one who knew his love of ice cream.

Tim’s faith was quiet and steady, present in how he lived far more than in how he talked about it. His family’s proudest moment came in 2024, when he was baptized as a believer alongside three of his grandchildren. After Tim and Pam moved to Tennessee, Tim’s faith grew. He was the first to be ready on Sunday mornings, eager to get to church and Sunday School - and, honestly, to the coffee and donuts waiting there as well!

For forty-two years, he battled a rare genetic kidney disease found only in his family. He faced it bravely and endured more surgeries and procedures than anyone should have to, including two kidney transplants. Never one to complain, he made sure everyone else felt special and at ease. His favorite daily saying, "Dear Lord, help me to remember that nothing's going to happen to me today that You and I can't handle together," based on Philippians 4:13, helped him face his health trials. He inspired his family and friends with that faith, and he impressed his health care workers with his courage and humor, right up to the end.

Tim was quiet until you got to know him, and then his wit and love of a good practical joke made for easy friendships and memorable stories. He loved watching NASCAR races, fishing and hunting with his close friends and family, and he treasured his mornings at diners with his buddies. But nothing meant more to Tim than his grandchildren, who all affectionately called him "Pa Tim." He attended all their activities and called or FaceTimed with them almost every day. His grandkids knew exactly how to spoil him right back, regularly sneaking him frozen mochas and apple fritters from Dunkin', always happy to be his accomplices.

Tim was well known throughout the area for his community service and willingness to help anyone in need. He had been an integral part of the General Brown Day Committee, initiating the annual soap box derbies. He previously served as an Assistant Scout Master, was a past Commander of the Sons of the American Legion in Brownville, and was active with the Sackets Harbor Chamber of Commerce, serving on the Can-Am Festival committee. While Postmaster of Depauville, he was a true civic leader known for giving generously of his time to the community’s church, library, and citizens in need. Having a fondness for the retired men of that community, he organized the “ROMEO” (Retired Old Men Eating Out) Club. He was well known for his chicken barbecue fundraisers, where he could turn a grill full of his secret-recipe chicken and enough wood smoke to fog the neighborhood into a successful event.

Tim was born in Watertown, NY to Helen (Shannon) and William R Scee Jr. He was predeceased by his parents; his granddaughter, Ella Rose Cook; and his best friends, Charlie Einbeck and Bill Brenon.

He is survived by his loving wife, Pamela (Gardner) Scee; his three children, Erin (Jeremy) Cook, Jaime (Christopher) Montanaro, and Timothy (Chelsea) Scee II; his grandchildren, Shayna, Carter, Kyah, and Parker Cook; Alexandra and Drew Montanaro; and Norah, Riley, and Sloan Scee; his sister, Cheryl Kingsley; his sister in Christ, Theresa Getter; his brothers from other mothers, Dean DeVito, Todd Farrington, and James Blodgett; his brother-in-laws, John and Craig (Amy) Gardner, his aunt Helen Kizzer; his uncle Doug Scee; as well as many wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on September 12, 2026 at Life Church of the Nazarene, 535 Thompson Blvd. in Watertown, NY, followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m. A light lunch will follow at the church, where family and friends are invited to share memories, laughter, and stories as we celebrate a man who always said he’d rather have a party than a funeral. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in Tim’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or a children’s medical charity of your choice.
