Terry Glenn “Turd Head” McMackin
January 8, 1953 – February 8, 2026

Terry Glenn McMackin, known to everyone as “Turd Head,” age 73, of Jonesborough, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, February 8, 2026. He was surrounded by his family and his faithful fur babies Boss, Harley, and Flash.

Born in Johnson City on January 8, 1953, Terry graduated in 1971 from Fall Branch School. He spent many years at Wade Bulla Meat Market, later working at Harris Country Meats, before dedicating the rest of his career to serving his community through the Washington County Highway Department.

Terry was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Bulla; his stepfather, William Bulla; his father, Clyde McMackin; his brother, Joel McMackin; and his sister, Cathy McMackin. In a touching family connection, Terry passed on the same date as his twin sister, Sherry Silvers, who passed on February 8, 2009.

Terry leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory son, Terry Joe (Sarah) McMackin; daughter, Shonna (Dwayne) Tipton; stepdaughter, Misty (Jordan) Shephard; he was a proud grandfather to Chayton, Cheyenne, Coby (Alaina), Chesney, Justin, Owen, Luke, Lincoln, and Oliver, and a great-grandfather, to Kaynen and Kalum.

Terry never met a stranger. His warmth, humor, and gift for storytelling made him easy to love and impossible to forget. He will be deeply missed by his buddies from the county, his friends at the Big Orange, his special cousins, and a wide circle of friends and extended family. Truly, those who knew him loved him.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the caring staff of Gentiva Hospice, especially Keith Greene, RN, along with Dr. William Buselmeier, Dr. Patel, and the team at Tennessee Cancer Specialists for their compassion and support during Terry’s illness.

The McMackin family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at Jonesborough Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Will Easler officiating. Committal Service and Interment will be on Thursday, February 12, 2026, in Milburnton United Methodist Church Cemetery beginning at 2:00 p.m. Dwayne Tipton, Chayton McMackin, Coby Whaley, Jordan Shephard, Hunter Wood, and Chris Blevins will serve as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Alan Roberts, Tex Garvin, Shorty Martin, Todd Light, Donnie Willis, Jimmy Rector, and Thomas Baskett.
