Dremia “ Sue” Hensley, born 7/11/1944 , went home to be with the Lord, October 26, 2026.
Sue was known and LOVED by everyone she knew for her sharp wit and humor. She would tell anyone “I’d rather laugh than cry.”
Sue was a woman always ready for a bargain and kept up with all of the current fashion trends. She loved spending time with her sister(s), daughter, and/or sons ‘junkin’’, searching far and wide for just one more Knick knack, piece of vintage furniture or pair of shoes.
Mamaw Sue was the heart and soul of her family. Her home was always full of laughter, wisdom and Little Debbie cakes. Christmas was always her favorite holiday, as many of those were spent surrounded by her beloved husband and all her children and grandchildren. Christmas decorations and candy were everywhere and they would often sing Christmas songs, accompanied by Terry playing his guitar.
She loved sitting out on the front porch telling stories, listening to music and enjoying the company of whoever sat with her.
She cared for her 2 homebound sons until she literally no longer could. She, Michael and Josh had a bond no one would ever know.
Mamaw Sue will be missed dearly by all who knew her. If there was ever to be a Hall of Fame for mothers, she would deserve her place there, tube top and all.
Sue depended on her faith in Jesus to get her through her day to day life..Although she wasn’t ready to leave her baby boy Josh, She knew she would “Be present with the Lord”
Indeed SHE IS.
She is preceded in death by her husband Haskel Ray, Son Scotty Keith, Granddaughter Cortney Raquel, and 2 great-grandchildren , Dremia and Silas Garvin.
Graveside service for Sue will be Saturday October 31, 2026 1:00PM at New Victory Methodist Church Cemetery. Those wishing to go in procession can meet at Jonesborough Funeral Home by 12:30 PM.
