Shields G. Bradshaw Sr., 85, of Johnson City, passed away peacefully on Saturday afternoon, April 19, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on July 7, 1939, the youngest son of Lula (Jenkins) and Kelly Bradshaw. Shields was raised in the Church Hill area of Hawkins County along side his four brothers and sister.
In addition to his parents, Shields was preceded in death by his brothers, Reggie, Roy "R.B", Kelly Jr., Benjamin "Frank"; and sister, Gertrude Williams.
In 1958 Shields married the love of his life Shirley Byington Bradshaw. Together they had two children, a son, Shields Jr. (Cindy); a daughter, Shelia (Bob); they have five grandchildren, Christopher Smith (Chris), Kimberly Turbyfill (Bill), Kayla Frazier (Ronnie), Troy Bradshaw, and Gary Bradshaw; eight great-grandchildren, Caleb, Jacob, Emily, Ethan, Chloe, Bryan, Jacen, and Lucas.
Shields was quite proud of the business he and Shirley started in 1974, Bradshaw Construction, which is still in operation today. He enjoyed farming and raising cattle. During the COVID lockdown he renewed his enjoyment of woodworking. Shields enjoyed surprising his family and friends with his finished product.
The Bradshaw family will gather to greet friends and share memories on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at Jonesborough Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. A Graveside Service will be Wednesday, April 23, 2025, in Highland Church of Christ Cemetery beginning at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Ed McLain and Ron Bradshaw officiating, B.J. Hutson will lead prayer. Shields's grandchildren, nieces, and nephews will serve as pallbearers. Everyone who wishes to attend the Graveside Service is asked to meet at the funeral home on Wednesday, by 1:30 p.m. to go in procession to the cemetery
