Shannon Dwayne Knight

Shannon Dwayne Knight, 53, of Johnson City, passed away on Friday evening, December 26, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family. He is the son of Ingrid (Sobotta) Knight and the late Dennis Burton Knight. Shannon was of the Presbyterian faith. He worked at Advanced Heat Pump for twenty-three years, until his health no longer permitted. In his free time, Shannon enjoyed fly fishing, knife, gun, and flash light collecting.

In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Walter and Nina Knight; maternal grandparents, his Oma and Opa, Alois and Gertrud Sobotta.

In addition to his mother, Shannon is survived by his sister, Angelia Gillis and husband Kirby; niece, Taylor Gillis and fiancé Zach Steward; nephew, Steven Gillis; step-son, Jonathan Humphrey; along with several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Shannon's final wish was to be cremated and no service will be held at this time. In May, the Knight family will have A Celebration of Life to spread his ashes along the Watauga River.
