Scotty “Scooter” Keith Hensley, age 62, passed away peacefully with his family surrounding him on April 22, 2026. He fought courageously against his battle with cancer.
Scotty gave his heart to Jesus as a teenager while attending McKinley Memorial Bible Church. Scotty spent many years working as a carpenter alongside his dad. He was a great detail carpenter and loved crafting with wood. Scotty was also an excellent drummer and played in many local bands over the years. Scotty was an Atlanta Braves fan and loved frisbee golf. He was also a bit of a pool shark. On occasion, you might also find him singing ZZ Top or Lynyrd Skynyrd karaoke style. Scotty was a friend to many people. He had lifelong friends and new friends who all loved his sense of humor and quick witt.
Scotty will be missed and remembered by many.
Scotty leaves behind his only daughter, Hilary Kate Hensley, whom he called “bunny” and his 4 precious grandkids, Luke, Aubree, Addie, and Memphis. His mom, Sue, who he called his “Angel Mom”, Terry (Karen) Hensley, Michael Hensley, Josh Hensley, and his sister Angie Adkins (Kenny) . His nieces, Britney Hensley and Lyndsay Whetsell, and his nephew, Jacob Adkins. He also had many great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his dad, Ray Hensley, his niece, Cortney Hensley, and two grandbabies, Dremia and Silas Garvin. His grandparents, Dewey and Nora Hensley, and Raymond and Zula Constable.
A celebration of life will be held on May 17, 2026, 2:00 PM, at New Hope Brethren Church, 352 New Hope Road, Jonesborough,
