Ms. Rubye Constable, age 85, of Jonesborough, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord
on Friday, September 5, 2025, following a brief illness. She passed peacefully at the
Johnson City Medical Center, surrounded by loved ones.
Rubye was born in Jonesborough to the late Rollie and Frankie Constable. She was
also preceded in death by her brothers, Bob Constable and Joe Constable.
A woman of quiet strength, deep devotion, and enduring grace, Rubye found great joy
in life’s simple pleasures. She loved spending time with her family, and enjoyed
crocheting, sudoku, and crossword puzzles.
She was a 1962 graduate of East Tennessee State College, where she earned a degree
in Mathematics. Rubye dedicated over 20 years of her professional life to The
Greeneville Sun newspaper, where her attention to detail and commitment to excellence
were deeply valued.
Rubye is survived by her two daughters, Frankie Entrekin and Kimberly Alexander
(Brian); her beloved grandchildren, Jacob Whaley, Faith Entrekin, and Ethan Entrekin;
her brother, Roy Constable (Carolyn); and numerous cherished nieces and nephews.
A funeral service to celebrate Rubye’s life will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2025,
at 7:00 PM at Jonesborough Funeral Home, with Pastor Joel Owen officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, prior to the service.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff of Johnson City Medical Center and
offers a special thank you to Lisa Torbett for the compassionate care and kindness
shown to Rubye in her final days.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at 11:00 AM at
Cherokee Baptist Church Cemetery, 143 Mayberry Rd., Jonesborough, TN. Pallbearers
will include Brian Alexander, Jacob Whaley, Steve Constable, Mike Constable, Greg
Constable, and Brent Owens.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Rubye’s memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
