Rose Ellen Mayhall Wright, 84, entered into the rest of her Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ on September 8, 2025. Born in Grant, Alabama, Rose was the
youngest child of Lula Jane Dabbs Mayhall and Wesley Preston Mayhall. She was
raised in Chattanooga and graduated from Lincoln Memorial University, where
she met the love of her life, C. Frank Wright.
After short teaching careers in southwest Virginia, the couple moved to
Johnson City, where they both graduated from E.T.S.U. with M.A.s.
and settled in Jonesborough. Rose taught at Jonesborough Middle School, but
quit in 1992, to write Revelations. She loved to tell people about the Lord Jesus.
She was a member of Skyline Heights Baptist Church, where she sang in
choir and often sang solos. Her love for the Lord was very evident as she sang in
her home, with her sisters, and to anyone who would listen.
She loved to cook and bake for her family, doing crewel embroidery, gardening
and shopping. Rose and Frank enjoyed traveling and teaching the grandchildren
to swim.
Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son, Troy (Christa),
and siblings, Oneal Mayhall, Lucille Compton Brown, Ovelle Rideout, W.P. Mayhall
Jr., Inez Hidas, Carol Varnell, Rose leaves behind a daughter, Christen Thomas
(Scott) of Jonesborough; one sister, Janice McDaniel (Felix) of Henderson, NC;
and grandchildren: Kilian Thomas, McKenzie Wright Singh (Arwinder), Kyle
Thomas, Gabriel Wright, and Kessa Thomas. Special thanks are given to Jim and
Mimi Thomas and Dr. James Dykes for their care of Rose.
The Wright family will honor Rose's life with a Graveside Service on Friday, September 12, 2025, in Fairview Cemetery with Pastor Perry Cleek officiating beginning at 10:00 a.m. Everyone who wishes to attend the Graveside is asked to meet at the cemetery by 9:50 a.m. Friday morning.
