Penny Sue Nelson

Ms. Penny Sue Nelson, age 66, Jonesborough, passed away on Tuesday October 28, 2025 at Princeton Transitional Care, Johnson City.

Penny was the daughter of the late Billy Gene Nelson. She was also preceded in death by her grandparents, Andrew and Gladys Nelson, her great-grandparents, Daniel and Cora Cash, and cousin Jill Nelson.

Penny worked for Sprint until her health would no longer allow her.

She loved her dogs as if they were her kids, Snuggles, Payton, and Rufus. They are now reunited in Heaven.

She was a good person, willing to give the shirt off her back to someone in need. She loved her family and would fight ferociously for them, especially for her sister Vickie. She was also a big Jimmy Buffett fan; she was a “Parrot Head.”

She was a member of Embreeville United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her sisters and brother-in-law, Vickie and Warren Browder, her favorite nephew Billy Harris, and his wife Crystal, great nephew and niece, Hunter and wife Ali Harris, and Hannah Harris, special cousins Sherry and Rick Adams, and special friend Lisa Lewis.

Memorial service will be held Monday, November 3, 2025, 6:00 PM at New Hope Brethren Church, 352 New Hope Road, Jonesborough, TN.
