Pat Taylor, age 86, of Jonesborough, Tennessee, peacefully left this world to be
in the presence of the Lord on the morning of December 1, 2025. He was born on May
24, 1939, to the late Jeff and Vernal Taylor in the mountains of Newland, North Carolina.
Pat proudly served active duty in the United States Army from 1962 to 1964 with
assignments at Fort Jackson, South Carolina and Fort Benning, Georgia. He was
recognized as an Army Sharpshooter, achieving the rank of Specialist, and was
honorably discharged before being assigned to the U.S. Army Reserves until his service
obligation ended in 1968.
He retired from A & L Construction, where he spent 20 years working at Eastman
Chemical Company in construction. He was a member of The United Brotherhood of
Carpenters and Joiners of America. He was an exceptionally hardworking and talented
man who always kept his hands busy—whether doing mechanic work, carpentry,
gardening both vegetables and flowers, cutting wood, or mowing his yard. When he
wasn’t working around his home, Pat could be found watching a western, studying the
Bible, playing his guitar, or sitting around the dining room table enjoying long
conversations with family and friends. He was a kind, honest, and selfless family man
who was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Pat was a member of
Gravel Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
Left to cherish precious memories of Pat is his loving wife of 62 years, June
Seigler Taylor, of the home; his children Robert Taylor (wife Kim), David Taylor, and
twins Leslie Taylor and Laura Taylor.
He was blessed with many grandchildren who brought him immense pride:
Whitney Tapp (husband Brian), in which Pat and June lovingly helped raise as their
own. Sergeant First Class Joseph Taylor (wife Sami), Kayla Furman (husband Sergeant
Joshua Furman), Kelsey Ford (husband Ben), Marissa Taylor (fiancé Payth Correll),
Nolan Tittle, Nathan Tittle, and Brady Tapp.
His great-grandchildren Levi, Landon, Cadelynn, Dylan, Jaxon, and Emmalynn Taylor;
Lane, Joanna, and Adeline Gilliam, Zach Furman; and Colton Correll.
Pat is also survived by his sisters Willie Ollis, Nancy Levin, and Molly King
(husband Dennis); sisters-in-law Ann Vance (husband Steve) and Sandra Pitman; and
brother-in-law Roger Seigler. In addition to those left to cherish his memory is his long
time friends and neighbors, The Scott Family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jeff and Vernal Taylor; daughter Janice
Taylor; siblings Joe Taylor, Johnny Taylor, and Joyice Taylor; sisters-in-law Debbie Keith
and Murr Seigler; brothers-in-law Tex Keith, Charlie Pitman, Vern Ollis, Hal Levin; and
nephews Sean Pitman, Larry Ollis, and Billy Irick.
The family will receive friends and family on Thursday, December 4, 2025, from
4:00–7:00 p.m. at Jonesborough Funeral Home, with a funeral service to follow at 7:00
p.m., officiated by Robert Taylor.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the
