Melvin James Broyles, age 85, entered into his heavenly home on February 20, 2026 at the Johnson City Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born October 31, 1940, in Chuckey, Tennessee to the late Gordon and Evelyn Broyles. He was a graduate of Kentucky Bible College and ETSU. Melvin was a man of many talents, he was song leader at Mountain View Church of Christ, where he was a faithful member. He taught driver’s education while living in Maryland. Additionally, he was the owner of Mel’s Stamps and Coins, a downtown Johnson City landmark for over 50 years, where he worked alongside his beloved grandson, Justin Mango and good friend J.D. “Don” Fink.

Mr. Broyles is survived by his wife, Anna, of the home, son Vincent Mango, Jr. (Brenda), daughter Melissa Broyles (Mike), son Allan Mango (Cindy), grandchildren Justin Mango (Vicky), Mason Noah (Kayla), Logan Barber (Jake), Joshua Mango (Chelsea), Issac Mango (Carrie), Vanessa Rose, Megan Milhorn (Aaron), and Allison Mango. Also left to cherish his memory are his siblings; sister Carolyn LeSueur and brother Steve Broyles (Aaronda). Additionally, he is survived by nephews Brett LeSueur, Derrick LeSueur, Greg Broyles and nieces Gina LeSueur Paulos and Gayle LeSueur Wright as well as several great grandchildren.

Visitation will be at Lighthouse Missionary Baptist Church, 1916 Hwy 81S, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, February 23, 2026. Funeral services will follow with Pastor David Dugger officiating. Interment will be at Rose Lawn Cemetery on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at 11 a.m. Family and friends will meet at Jonesborough Funeral Home at 10 a.m. for procession through downtown Johnson City by Mel’s Stamps and Coins before arriving at his final resting place.
