Gertrude "LaVaughn" Everhart, 93, of Jonesborough, passed away into the loving arms of Jesus on Friday morning, July 25, 2025, at Four Oaks Health Care Center. She was born on May 14, 1932, to the late Robert Otis and Ada Maude Forester. In addition to her parents, LaVaughn was preceded in death by her precious infant daughter, Donna Kay Everhart; her precious grandson, Nick Phillips; brothers, John, Elmer, and Lester Forester.
LaVaughn spent her life working hard and depending on Jesus for strength. She was the best cook in the world. LaVaughn devoted herself to raising her two children to the best of her ability and then after that caring for and doting on her grandchildren, and to the fortunate children that she babysat for years that affectionately called her "Mimi." She loved Jesus and was a member of Pleasant Valley Covenant Brethren Church.
LaVaughn is survived by her son, Bob Everhart; daughter, Valerie Phillips (Darryl); grandchildren, Emily Huneycutt (Jake), Stephanie Everhart, and Abby Phillips; along with several nieces and nephews.
LaVaughn had chosen to be cremated. A Graveside Service in Fairview Cemetery with Pastor Don Hilton officiating will be announced at a later date.
The Everhart family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the loving staff at Four Oaks Healthcare Center who cared for her during the last months of her life here on earth. They would also like to thank Debbie, her roommate and friend who watched over her. They will not forget the love they have been shown there.
