John Treadway III

John Elbert Treadway, III, age 81, of Jonesborough, passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2026, at his residence. John was the son of the late John and Wildred Randolph Treadway, Jr. John was also preceded in death by his wife, Edith Hensley Treadway and sister Gerry Treadway Buck.

John was a farmer; he loved riding tractors, raising cattle, and listening to gospel music.

Survivors include nieces: Tammy Whitlock (Tim), Karen Painter, and Kathy Seaton, cousins: Karen Cooper (Steve), David Bolton, Denise Treadway, and Kathern Allen. Special friends: Tim & Brenda Carver, Hobie Arrowood, Kevin Stout and loving caregiver: Sandy Hipshire.

Special thanks to State of Franklin Health Care, Amedisys Home Health Care, and Ballad Hospice for their excellent care. Also, a special thank you to the Washington County Sheriff's Department for their daily calls and encouragement.

Funeral Services for John will be on Thursday, October 29, 2026, 2:00 PM at Jonesborough Funeral Home with Pastor Jeremy Dykes officiating. The family will receive family and friends from 12:00PM to 2:00PM prior to the service and graveside to follow at Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
