Glenn Heffner

November 17, 1962 — May 1, 2024

John Glenn Heffner, 61, of Piney Flats, Tennessee passed away, on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at the Johnson City Medical Center after a brief illness with his family by his side. Glenn, as we all knew him, was a graduate of Gate City High School. He went on to work at numerous companies in the Tri-Cities and earned his certification in Quality Control where he spent the final years of his career as a QC Technician. Glenn enjoyed playing golf, fishing and was an avid race fan. He loved his dog Prissy who showed up at his house as a stray several years ago and was sorely missed when she passed.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents Alva “Bo” Heffner and Francis “Frankie” Salyer Heffner, grandparents R. J. Salyer and June Smith Salyer, grandparents John Heffner and Alma Davis Heffner. He was also preceded in death by his Aunt and Uncle, Carl and Nancy Salyer Barger and their son, Eddie Barger, who was like a brother to Glenn.

Glenn is survived by his brother Larry Heffner, wife Nina and nephew Daniel Heffner. Also surviving are cousins Ben and Carla Barger Spivey and their daughter Tia, Wendi Barger Roush and her children Mariah Lane and Baily Glover along with Aunt Lois Nates, Uncle Pat Woods and several close cousins.

The Heffner family would like to extend their heart felt appreciation to the staff at Johnson City Med Center ER and ICU for the thoughtful care that he received.

A celebration of Glenn’s life will be planned in the coming weeks or months. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Shades of Grace UMC, 313 E Sullivan St, Kingsport, TN 37660.
