Geraldine Horton Howard

Geraldine (Jeri) Hicks Horton Howard, of Johnson City, Tennessee, passed away on April 30,
2025. She was the daughter of the late George D. and Anna Mae West Hicks.

She attended Grace Free Will Baptist Church. She retired from Univac in Bristol. After their retirement, Jeri and her
late husband, George went to Korea where he worked as an Engineer. They loved to travel,
visiting Egypt, Israel, Asia, Africa, Europe, and numerous other places.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Don Horton, father of their three
children, second husband, George Howard, her special daughter Kathy Horton Malmstrom, baby
daughter, Elizabeth Ann Horton, her sister, Barbara Stevens, brothers, George D. Hicks, Jr.,
Quentin Hicks, James Hicks, and infant brother, Robert F. Hicks. She was also preceded in death
by George’s daughter, Linda Smith and his grandson, Benjamin Howard. She is survived by her
loving son, Bryan Horton (Joy), son-in-law, Dr. Hans Malmstrom, who was like a son, four
grandchildren, Audrey Horton Graybeal (Eddie), Jared Horton (Ashley and her daughter, Kerri),
Dr. Nik Malmstrom (Kara), Sean Kristian Malmstrom (Georgia), two precious great-
grandchildren, Brooklyn Madison Graybeal (Austin) and Wyatt H. Graybeal, as well as her
sister, Winsie Kegley, sister-in-law, Ling Hicks, and brother-in-law, John Stevens. She is also
survived by George’s children, Dr. Christine Barrett, Susan Howard, Karen Howard, Mike
Howard, Kevin Howard, and Keith Howard, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Per her request, graveside service will be at Monte Vista Cemetery on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 2:00
p.m. with Pastor Curtis Hurt officiating. Those attending are asked to meet at the cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Grace Free Will Baptist Church. A special thank you to Dr. James
Hansen and Dr. Tariq Z. Haddadin, Devan Bartlett and Keith Greene (very special hospice
nurses), Becky Gentry and Sheila Bradshaw (caregivers), and my special friends. Jeri wrote her
own obituary.
