Gary McKee

Gary McKee, 77, of Telford, passed away on Saturday evening, June 15, 2024, at the Johnson City Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born to the late V.A. and Lucille McKee. Gary was a life-long resident of Washington County.

Gary McKee had a passion for agriculture, having been a dairy farmer most of his life. He found joy in being surrounded by his many horses and could often be found either horseback riding or working the ground with them.

Gary was known to be a sharp mechanic and never met a piece of equipment that he didn’t know how to fix. In his younger years, he crafted several hot rods from the ground up and enjoyed putting them to the test.

Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Dorothy Phillips McKee; children, Lisa Shell (Joe), Debbie McKee, and Janice McKee; grandchildren, David Shell (Chelsea), Dylan Carver, Julia Shell Austin (Chase), and Presley McKee; great-grandchildren, Scheid Carver and Norah Austin; brother, Terry McKee; along with special friends, Bennie Stout and Becky Gentry.

The McKee family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at Jonesborough Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at New Victory Methodist Church Cemetery, beginning at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jeremy Dykes officiating. Music will be provided by Kathy Thompson. Dennis Keplinger, James Briggs, Randy Gentry, Butch Carver, Bennie Stout, and Doug Garst will serve as pallbearers.
