Gary Wayne Luster Sr., 78, of Kingsport, passed away Saturday, December 20, 2025, at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was born in Fall Branch, to the late Thomas Franklin and Ida (Hensley) Luster.
Gary proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He loved watching NASCR, wrestling, football, and spending time with his family and friends. Gary was a Diesel Mechanic for many years, having worked at Richard Diehl Trucking and Smoky Mountain Freightliner.
In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his brothers, Elmer, Joe, and Kenny Luster; and his sister, Margie Cox.
He is survived by his children, Gary Wayne Luster Jr. (Drema), Terri Melvin (Jordon); their mother, Linda Draugh; grandchildren, Brent Metcalf (Katie), Brandon Metcalf (Chelsi), Tyler Luster (Allison), and Kendra Luster; great-grandchildren, Huck Metcalf, and Caroline Metcalf; son-in-law, Rick Treadway; along with several nieces and nephews.
The Luster family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the VA Medical Center and to the CLC.
