Bureda Ray

Bureda Nellie Shook Ray, 95, of the Temple Hill Community, Erwin, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at Lakebridge in Johnson City. She was born to the late Savannah and Rhoda Sprinkles Shook in Madison County, NC. In addition to her parents, Bureda was preceded in death by her husband, Vance Ray; son, Danny Ray; one brother; and several sisters.

She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Erwin. She loved to sing in the choir and read her Bible. She enjoyed her Sunday lunches with her nieces, Frida and Karen, and their families. She enjoyed garnering and growing flowers.

Survivors include her son, Floyd Ray (Debbie); grandchildren, Mandy Hensley (Dwayne), Breanna, and Jacob Ray; great grandchildren, Garrett Hensley and Makayla Hensley; along with several nieces and nephews.

The Ray family will receive friends on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Cherokee Baptist Church, 143 Mayberry Rd. Jonesborough, TN 37659, from 12 p.m. - 2 p.m. A Graveside Service will follow at Shook Family Cemetery beginning with Pastor Harold Lewis officiating.
